This course is for absolute beginners and those who do not have Grade 11 French or the equivalent. It provides an intensive introduction to the French language, enhanced by computer practice, and an introduction to francophone culture. It aims to develop proficiency in all areas of communication: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. With FREN 101, it constitutes Grade 11 French. Section information text: <strong>Course Description: </strong>This course is for absolute beginners and those who do not have Grade 11 French or the equivalent. It provides an intensive introduction to the French language, enhanced by computer practice, and an introduction to francophone culture. It aims to develop proficiency in all areas of communication: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. With FREN 101, it constitutes Grade 11 French.<br/><strong>Note: </strong>FREN 100 is an approved Culture and Creative Expression course for Cap Core requirements. This is not a course for students with training or background in French.<br/><strong>Reg Notes: </strong> Students must register for a conversation and a lecture at the same time. This is a course for complete beginners, students with previous study or background should contact the instructor. Overqualified students (i.e., French 11 or 12, Immersion, etc.) will be required to withdraw and re-directed to a higher-level course.
