This course introduces pre-service teachers to the teaching of family studies at the middle and secondary levels. Drawing from the Nova Scotia family studies curriculum document; pre-service teachers will focus on effective teaching strategies, lesson planning, unit planning, and assessment and evaluation. A special focus will be placed on critical pedagogies and culturally responsive teaching. Pre-service teachers will have an opportunity to deliver a live lesson and develop their unit planning skills.
