This course will promote a holistic approach to the teaching of mathematics at the middle school level. Participants will explore methodologies for assessing students' progress in mathematics, taking into consideration the various ways of knowing and learning mathematics. Pre-service teachers will explore the use of mathematics manipulatives, and technology as teaching/learning tools, collaborative student work and mathematical literacy.
