This course critically examines the systemic oppression that shapes how individuals and society assign value to people based on factors such as race, gender, class, ability, and other intersecting identities. We explore how historical and contemporary power structures influence perceptions of worth, determining who is seen as valuable, whose voices are amplified, and whose contributions are overlooked. Together, we will analyze how these systems of oppression manifest in different social institutions, with a particular focus on learning environments.
