This course discusses the social, economic, legal and political relationships among management, labour, and the state. It focuses on the employment relationship in a unionized workplace. Lectures, reading, simulations and assignments will serve to acquaint the student with the structure and functining of the Canadian industrial relatins system, basic employment law concepts, the union certification process, negotiation and administration of collective agreements and strikes and dispute resolution.
