PSYC 3504

Applied Mental Health Support

Lec 76 selected

Our communities are becoming more aware of mental health and wellness. In this course, students will be provided an overview of mental health including wellness, stress, distress, and illness. Students will have experiential learning of the helping profession to help them to fully understand and be able to recognize signs of distress and illness. Students will not learn how to become counsellors, but will know how to appropriately respond to a person in distress through listening, supporting and assisting in referrals when a person is in distress. This course will help students develop skills in peer support.
