Lec 0 selected

Community Engaged Research develops research skills for use in social work and applies them to a current community problem. Topics addressed will include qualitative and quantitative methods, data ownership and ethics, and knowledge mobilization. Special focus will be placed on research with Indigenous peoples; equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in research; participatory action research; how research informs public policy and programs; anti-racist approaches to research; and wise practices for establishing research partnerships. Practical training in interview/survey design, recording techniques, and data analysis and verification will be provided. Students will design a community-engaged research project and mobilize the knowledge gained through the term project for use by their community partner (for example, a report, grant writing, advocacy document, etc.).
