AGRI 6700

This course will present an introduction to the philosophy of science and the scientific method. Students will examine the historical development of knowledge within their area of specialization. The student will explore access to, and use of, the published literature in the development of a research question. Students will consider the means by which they observe, document, and analyze subjects in their area of specialization and through discussion/presentation with other students in the course and invited speakers appreciate how this is undertaken in other fields. The importance of being able to assess and document data quality and the maintenance of data archives and the publishing of datasets will be considered.
