This course introduces students to representations of love in literary and cultural contexts through engagement with historical and contemporary texts in a variety of forms and genres. Through attention to relevant theoretical and scholarly frameworks for thinking about love, romance, desire, and sexuality, students will acquire critical and analytical tools to help them be active in understanding how literature and culture shape our world.
