LAWS 2383

Information Policy Lab

Lec 01 and Lec 01 selected

The Information Policy Lab will provide students with an opportunity to engage directly on emerging public policy questions related to the intersection of law and technology through a combination of research, writing, and direct interaction with external stakeholders who are on the front lines of global debates related to the regulation of new technologies. The course provides a substantive experiential learning opportunity for students interested in careers in the public policy space, allowing them to develop research, writing, networking, communication and advocacy skills that are fundamental to effective and impactful policy work. The main output of the course is a high-quality policy paper which is collaboratively developed by the students addressing a specific emerging technology question, which will be published and distributed to policymakers working on these issues. The course outputs also include a series of shorter papers which will be submitted for publication in leading popular media outlets, as well as meetings and external engagement sessions designed to simulate the work of public policy professionals in a non-profit, government, or private sector setting.
