Turbulence
This graduate-level course provides a rigorous exploration of turbulence, focusing on its fundamental physics, mathematical modeling, computational simulation, and control strategies. Students will delve into the governing equations of turbulence, statistical and spectral analysis methods, and modern turbulence modeling techniques such as Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) models, Large Eddy Simulation (LES), and Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS). The course also includes experimental and computational tools used in turbulence research and discusses state-of-the-art control methods. Theoretical concepts will be reinforced through hands-on computational assignments, literature reviews, and a final research project related to the student’s field of interest.
