MGMT 3450

Money, Power and Bad Decisions

Lec 01 selected

This course explores the effects of advances in money and credit technology on our understanding of contemporary society. It will teach students about key moments in history, ranging from ancient Mesopotamia to the modern day, along with the consequences for human authority structures. The course argues that history is contingent and that the world we live in is the result of events that could have been otherwise, while also showing that there are timeless principles that are relevant to contemporary challenges and ideas. Students will finish the course having practiced constructing well-supported, historically-informed arguments about contemporary monetary and policy debates.
