ProComp II
This course is the second of a three-unit sequence of courses that spans year one of the MPAS curriculum. The Professional Competencies (ProComp I-III) courses provide students with the opportunity to integrate their biomedical and clinical learning within the context of patient care from professional, community, and life-long student perspectives. ProComp II continues to build in skills, knowledge, attitudes, and competencies discussed in ProComp I. The course emphasizes competencies that are integral to the effective functioning of a well-rounded health care professional under the domains of communication skills, professionalism, ethics, and social/community context of healthcare. Concurrent Medical Foundations II (tutorial) content includes human development, neurosciences, and musculoskeletal (MSK) units. For example, as students learn about normal fetal and childhood development from a medical expertise and physiology perspective, concurrent ProComp II topics include reproductive law and ethics, social and clinical aspects of prenatal screening, etc.
