This course establishes foundational knowledge for occupational therapy practice, examining relevant theories, practice models and frames of reference used in the profession. The concept of occupation, its applicability and its limitations are introduced, along with its historical context. Principles of activity analysis and occupational analysis are introduced, leading to exploration of the principles of assessment, a vital component of professional practice. The strengths and limitations of assessment approaches are critically examined.
