Preparing for Field Practicum

Lec 01 selected

The purpose of this course is to consolidate learning from the classroom, filter it through a critical social work lens and knowledge of self, and prepare to apply it to professional field placement experiences. Critically reflective analysis of social work ethics is central to this process, as is understanding social welfare systems and the role of student social workers in field settings. The class focuses on learning to interrogate and integrate values, beliefs, assumptions, knowledges, theories, skills, policy, and ethics in preparation for placement and future practice. The self is the primary tool in social work, thus use of self and planning for longevity in the field are course anchors.
