This course introduces concepts related to community mental health nursing practice. The continuum of care is explored, including its historical development, influencing factors, and theoretical foundations for population-based nursing within a health promotion framework. Emphasis is placed on best practices, assessment approaches, and the application of the Community as Partner Model to guide care for individuals and populations. Students build on prior psychiatric nursing knowledge to examine the roles and responsibilities of the psychiatric nurse in supporting individuals with persistent mental health disorders in community settings.
