Transitional Justice

Lec 01 selected

The course explores how societies emerging from periods of conflict and repression respond to the legacies of massive and serious human rights violations. It critically analyzes the theory of transitional justice, and its operation in practice, surveying measures to provide truth, justice, reparations, and guarantees of non-recurrence. The course considers post-conflict and post-authoritarian situations, as well as settler colonial contexts like Canada. [Department(s): Department of Political Science]
