ANTH 1100
Social & Cultural Anthropology
Lec R10 selected
Cultural Anthropology is an exploration of the diversity of human cultures. Students will come to appreciate the many ways that people live around the world through examining elements of culture, such as kinship, gender, foodways, political and economic systems, and rituals and beliefs. They will examine the research methods anthropologists use, such as participant-observation, interviews, and visual anthropology, and consider the ethical principles applied in research. Recognizing diverse cultural practices and beliefs around the globalizing world is an important goal, as is mutual understanding within the multicultural communities where we live. Note: This is a Pathway Level 3 course option.
