ENGL 3313

The voices of individual writers shape literary genres, spark new ideas, and mark watershed historical moments. This course offers the rewards of reading one or two major authors in depth, including examining a writer’s characteristic style, tracing the evolution of a writer over time, and discovering how writers respond to the world around them. By placing their work in the literary and historical contexts of their time, we will come to appreciate the individual significance of the selected author(s) and their influence on literature.
