HIST 1100
Reel History: History through Film
Lec S10 selected
Students will watch films that portray watershed moments in human history. They will be asked to rethink the relationships between "reality" and "representation", and think critically about "history", film, "fact" and "fiction". Students will be guided in the use of films as ways to understand and critique the stories we tell ourselves about our own past, and the purposes behind our particular versions of our past. This course will focus on skills building through a variety of different assignments such as film reviews and blogs. Note: This is a Pathway Level 3 course option.
