HIST 1110

Students will learn about Indigenous Peoples' histories since time immemorial in the place currently known as Canada. They will discuss historical events and trends prior to and after the arrival of Europeans, such as origins, sovereignty, encounters with newcomers, resistance to settler colonialism, and political resurgence. Students will learn directly from Indigenous authors and speakers, and will analyze Indigenous primary sources and the historiographies of Indigenous Peoples in these lands.
