PSYC 3350
Advanced Topics in Psychopathology
Students engage in an in-depth examination of specific classifications of adult psychopathology on topics varying from year to year, such as personality disorders, sexual disorders, substance abuse disorders, impulse control disorders, mood disorders, sleep disorders, and psychotic disorders. Students expand their knowledge of DSM diagnoses, explore issues around differential diagnosis and comorbidity, critically examine current diagnostic classification systems, consider recent research in the area, and explore gender, social and cultural issues in the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders. Students develop their familiarity with diagnostic criteria and the course of specific disorders through media, class discussions, and clinical case analysis. Note: This is a seminar course.
