Dynamics

Lec 01 selected

The kinematics and kinetics of particles and rigid bodies are modeled and analyzed. Different coordinate systems are applied to represent the motion of particles and rigid bodies in both two and three-dimensional spaces. The Newton-Euler equations, the work-energy principle as well as the impulse-momentum principle are used to relate the forces and moments applied to particles and rigid bodies to their ensuing motions. The importance of dynamic modeling in terms of informing the design of mechanical systems is explored. PREREQ: ENGR-1056, MATH-1037, MATH-1057. (lec 3, tut 1.5) 3 cr.
