Lec 001 selected

(3 Credits) 3 Lecture hours In this course students will learn about the control and coordination of human movement through an examination of sensory and motor neurophysiological systems. This course uses a mixed lecture and experiential learning design. Students will develop a deep understanding of how the nervous system controls voluntary and reflexive movement by applying fundamental concepts to hands on experiential learning activities (ELAs). Students will develop research and critical thinking skills by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting sensorimotor data. Course topics include: muscle and motor unit structure and function, somatosensory receptors, the vestibular system, basic and complex spinal reflexes, postural control and standing balance, and sensory-motor brain structures and pathways.
