CHEM 4411

Organometallic Chemistry and Catalysis

Lec 001 and Lab 501 selected

(3 Credits) 3 Lecture hours, 4 Laboratory hours This course offers an in-depth examination of organometallic chemistry and catalysis. Topics covered will include the fundamentals of structure and bonding of some transition metal compounds, the carbonyl ligand, pi ligands, other important ligands, reactions that occur at the metal, reactions involving the modification of ligands, and the role of transition metal complexes in catalysis. The lab component involves techniques relevant to the field including air sensitive exclusion techniques, NMR spectrocopy, and organometallic catalysts.
