(3 Credits) 3 Lecture hours This course is the foundation for all subsequent Child and Youth Care Counsellor courses and considers cultural and developmentally appropriate practices which are embedded in the discipline competencies. Students are challenged to explore their belief and value systems, gain self-awareness and understand the personal impact of working with vulnerable children, youth and families. The history and scope of the child and youth care profession are also examined.
