Hydrology
(3 Credits) 3 Lecture hours, 3 Laboratory hours Learn fundamentals of occurrence, movement, and behavior of water, emphasizing the role of surface water in the hydrologic cycle. Emphasis is placed on analysis of statistical hydrology with frequency and probability, and natural and urban hydrologic processes governing occurrence and distribution of precipitation, infiltration, evaporation, and surface water runoff. Topics include: hydrological principles of stream flow measurement, rainfall and runoff hydrographs, and hydrologic modeling. Methods of predicting reservoir and flow routing, hydrologic routing, flood waves and frequency analysis are used to determine impacts on landscape. Note: This course can not be used as a General Science Option. Section information text: Labs will begin the 2nd week of the semester unless otherwise specified.
