Examines normative and applied ethics in teaching in relation to values implicit in or implied by conceptualizations of good teaching, teachers' rights and responsibilities, and public education as a common good. Historical, contemporary, and fictional dilemmas in teaching are discussed in terms of their ethical assumptions and implications for practice.
