Lec 001 selected

CRIM 2820 Marginalization, Criminalization, and Social Control explores how vulnerable and historically oppressed groups (e.g., Indigenous, racialized, low-income, and gender-diverse communities) become targets of criminalization. Students will learn about the social, economic, and political forces that shape processes of marginalization; how these processes interact with formal and informal systems of surveillance and punishment; and the role of community resistance and activism in challenging these structures.
