EASC 3420

Global Tectonic Processes

Lec 001 and Lab 002 selected

Examines the foundational concepts required to understand modern plate tectonics, such as earthquake focal mechanisms, paleomagnetism, heat and mass transfer, isostasy and flexure, and plate motions. These concepts are used to qualitatively and quantitatively investigate the full range of tectonic plate boundaries on Earth and their associations with the evolution of rocks and natural resources. Laboratory exercises emphasize practical applications of the material developed in lectures.
