Mechanical Design Project I is the first of two capstone design courses in Mechanical Engineering. In this course mechanical students are organized into small groups or teams, which must complete a design challenge. The project is presented as an open-ended problem statement with specific performance objectives. The system must be designed, prototyped and tested during the semester. Each team is a small consulting firm and is required to document its object planning as well as its design.
