An introduction to the study of real estate capital markets, asset valuation, and investment analysis. The course focuses on indirect real estate investment vehicles from both equity and debt sides, such as shares of real estate operating companies (REOC), real estate investment trusts (REITs), mortgage-backed securities, and private real estate funds. Topics include a discussion of the characteristics of the real estate capital markets with a focus on the indirect capital market, the valuation of the indirect RE vehicles, investing strategies, and market analysis.
