GEOG 2333

Biogeography

Lec 1 and Lab 1L selected

Students study of the spatial and temporal distribution of plants and animals on Earth. Local to global scale patterns of species distribution in terrestrial and marine environments are explained by examining physical controls, ecological principles, and human impacts. Concepts of speciation, evolution, migration and extinction are explored to examine species changes over space and time. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of humans as agents of change in biogeographical distributions. Classes 3 hrs. and lab 3 hrs. per week.
