This advanced preaching elective explores how trauma awareness reshapes the practice and theology of preaching. Building on foundational studies in homiletics and worship, the course equips students to engage wounded communities with pastoral sensitivity, theological depth, and prophetic imagination. Students will examine how collective trauma affects both preacher and hearer, and how preaching can become a space for lament, resilience, and communal healing. Through readings, sermon workshops, and reflective practices, students will learn to craft sermons that hold together truth-telling and hope, attending to embodiment, emotion, and sacred space.
