ART 295

ST: Indigenous Art 20C - Today

Lec 20 and Lec 20 selected

The topic for 2026-2027 is Indigenous Art from the 20th Century to Today. This course introduces students to the work of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists in the lands known colonially as Canada and the United States from 1900 to the present. Together we will learn how Indigenous artists working in a range of media have used art to reflect on colonial histories, contemporary politics, and to create bold futures. Recognizing the Mi’kmaw land on which we learn, we will spotlight L’nu artists in Mi’kma’ki. Three credits.
