The topic for 2026-2027 is Classical Mythology in Art. How did the world emerge out of chaos? What is the difference between gods and heroes? This course examines artistic representations of classical Greek and Roman myths in order to understand why these stories have continued to resonate with us: how myths translate from place to place, and how works of art about them allude to very different ideas and interpretations as the religious, historical, and social contexts change over time. Three credits.
