SOCI 314

Disability and Culture

Lec 66 selected

This course employs sociological theories, methods, and an intersectional lens to examine disability as a social and political construct. Students will analyze representations of disability in law, policy, media, education, and care, situating these portrayals within broader movements for equity and justice. The course explores how dominant cultural narratives contribute to the marginalization of disabled people, and contrasts these with lived experiences that challenge and resist such portrayals.
