ST: Ethical Issues in Higher Education

Lec 01 selected

Students explore contemporary issues impacting leaders in education. Multiple ethical leadership frameworks are examined, including Indigenous peoples’ leadership ethics and the ethics of care, critique, community, discomfort, justice, self-care, and the profession. Students discuss, critique, and pose solutions to real-world ethical dilemmas. The major class project is a case study, where students select a real-world dilemma, explore it in depth, and disseminate their research in an open access resource. Throughout the course, students engage with the Professional Standards for BC Educators as a framework to guide ethical reflection, decision-making, and leadership practice. The course culminates with the Ethical Dilemmas Roundtable Symposium organized and hosted by students.
