This course introduces students to the role of the Health Care Assistant (HCA) in British Columbia and provides an overview of key information relevant to HCA practice. Learners will gain knowledge, tools, and confidence to support success in their program and future practice. Topics include Indigenous health, equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), gentle persuasive approaches, and violence prevention in healthcare. Students will also receive orientation to Moodle, participate in writing workshops, and learn about academic integrity. Practical strategies for time management, study skills, self-care, and accessing campus resources are emphasized to prepare students for meeting course requirements and excelling in their studies.
