Social Marketing

Lec A1 selected

Marketing plays an increasingly important role in campaigns and programs that deal with such problems as HIV/AIDS, smoking, drug and alcohol abuse, and environmental pollution. Social marketing is the adaptation of commercial marketing technologies to programs designed to influence the voluntary behaviour of target audiences in order to improve their personal welfare and that of the society of which they are a part. Social marketing has been particularly successful in influencing health and social behaviours in fields such as HIV/AIDS prevention and childhood immunization, but it is also being used in areas such as criminal justice and environmental protection. Prerequisite(s): Second-year standing (a minimum of 30.0 credit hours) Equivalent: Management 3250 (prior to 2021/2022)
