This course focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to care for individuals experiencing common mental health issues and substance use disorders. Theoretical and clinical approaches draw on concepts related to holistic and relational practice including cultural safety, trauma-informed practice and advanced therapeutic communication. Use of exemplars and case-based learning prepare students to interact with and care for patients in acute, community, and primary care settings.
