CHEM 2720

This course introduces transition metals and their coordination compounds. Topics include: naming and electron counting, coordination isomers, stereochemistry, approaches to ligand design, hard-soft acid base (HSAB) theory, crystal field theory, ligand field theory, and molecular symmetry. The course also examines substitution reactions, green chemistry, IR spectroscopy, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. PREREQUISITE: Chemistry 1120.
