LA NOUVELLE FRANÇAISE This course comprises a study of the French short story across the centuries, including such authors as Cazotte, Sade, Gautier, Balzac, Maupassant, Flaubert, Mauriac, Camus, and Yourcenar. The readings are coupled with a theoretical attempt to define the genre such as nouvelle, conte, nouvelle contée. Three hours a week plus conversation class
