VPM 8380

In this course, the student is provided a more advanced training in gross and microscopic examination of biopsy materials and fixed specimens submitted to the diagnostic laboratory during the second year of study. Morphologic diagnosis, pathogenesis and prognosis are emphasized, especially with regard to neoplastic diseases. The student is required to complete at least 50-60 cases. Selected cases are discussed at weekly necropsy rounds. In addition, the student is exposed to techniques in histochemistry and immunohistochemistry. HOURS OF CREDIT: 3 LAB/SEMINARS: 6 hours
