Fluid Mechanics II

Lec 02 selected

The basic principles of fluid mechanics are developed using a differential control volume formulation and then applied to the study of incompressible, viscous flow. The Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations are presented as a framework for calculating turbulent flows. Theoretical and empirical models are used to analyze boundary layers. External flows are examined. The fundamentals of one-dimensional compressible flow with area change and normal shock waves are covered.
