An introduction to the study of animal cells and tissues, based on histological techniques used in light microscopy and electron microscopy, with a focus on an examination of the four basic tissue types (epithelium, connective tissue, muscle tissue, nervous tissue). In addition, the immune system, the circulatory system, the integument, an d the central nervous system will be discussed as representative of the complex arrangement of tissues that form the organ systems of the animal body.
