Ethics in Criminal Justice

Lec BR selected

This course is designed to give students the opportunity to think through the ethical dilemmas that are posed by the coercive nature of the criminal-legal and carceral systems, before they encounter these dilemmas in real-world practice. Students will learn philosophies of ethics, engaging with such concepts as agency, responsibility, duty of care, coercion, consent, freedom, justice, and resistance. Students will work collaboratively to engage creative problem-solving with example scenarios that engage with ethical issues at the levels of individual behaviour, institutional policy and practice, and human rights. <br>
