CQ 622

Sexual Politics

Lec A selected

An examination of contemporary sexual politics through an intersectional lens, with particular attention to how sexual violence and agency are constructed in popular culture and encoded in law. Locating sexual agency within a historical context of gender and racial oppression, this course traces intersectional feminist, queer, and anti-colonial reclamation of sexual agency as a site of resistance. Topics may include pornography, the sex industry, kink, consent, #MeToo movement, and non-monogamy, among other topics, that engage with the cultural meanings and legal boundaries of sexual agency.
