Literate Lives

Lec VH selected

This course draws on a multiliteracies framework to examine how literacies evolve across the lifespan and how they both shape - and are shaped by - our identities, communities, and worldviews. Students will trace historical and contemporary theories of literacy, with attention to formal, informal, and everyday learning contexts. The course also considers how shifting cultural, social, multilingual, and technological landscapes transform literacy practices and invites students to reflect on their own conceptualizations of literacy in relation to a changing world.
