Theory in Student Affairs
This course explores key developmental and identity theories related to postsecondary students and student affairs professionals. The course will introduce the historical foundations of student development theory and offer an in-depth exploration of key theoretical frameworks (e.g., learning theories, psychosocial theories, person-environment models, and social identity theories). The course also examines the development and professional identity formation of student affairs practitioners, including processes of socialization into the field. Through critical engagement, students will explore how these theories inform current and future student affairs practice. The course we intend will cover special topics in education that may be related to current cohort needs or particularly contemporary or current issues in education. <br>
